Students generate arts works that communicate ideas.
Possible activities

LAO 2. ART SKILLS AND PROCESSES
Students use the skills, techniques, processes, conventions and technologies of the arts.
Possible activities
Drama / concerts / discos, sketching and painting, problem solving activities, use of video and photography, sculptures, music songs and instruments.

LAO 3 ART RESPONSES
Students use their aesthetic understand to respond to, reflect on and evaluate the arts.

LAO 4 ARTS IN SOCIETY
Students understand the role of the arts in society.
Possible activities for 3 & 4
Visit local galleries, visit local Aboriginal enterprises, dance workshop with dreamtime dancers, visit Broome museum, listen to Aboriginal elders story telling, visit Gantheaume Point, visit radio Goolarri and Goolarri TV.


ENGLISH

LAO 5 LISTENING
Students listen with purpose, understanding and critical awareness in a wide range of situations.

LAO 6 SPEAKING
Students speak with purpose and effect in a wide range of contexts.
Possible activities for 5 & 6
Public speaking activities and games, preparing camp rules, voicing ideas to group, decision making, problem solving games, fundraising events, thank you to staff after camp, communicating as a team, team building activities, drama, concerts, listening during tours and asking questions, following instructions.

LAO 7 VIEWING
Students view a wide range of visual texts with purpose, understanding and critical awareness.
Possible activities
Viewing camp booklet prior to camp, following rules during camp, reading dairies and camp reports post camp, excursion and tours, photography and video activities, orienteering and mapping activities, viewing town signs, bike tour of Broome.

LAO 8 READING
Students read a wide range of texts with purpose, understanding and critical awareness.
Possible activities
Broome museum visit, bike tour of Broome, commercial tours, reading instructions and rules, gathering information about camp from web site and camp booklet.

LAO 9 WRITING
Students write for a range of purposes and in a range of forms using conventions appropriate to audience, purpose and context.
Possible activities
Dairy / journal writing, reports on activities and tours, gathering information from the museum, letters requesting information or thanking someone, writing and displaying rules, writing warm fuzzies, sending emails, creating a class camp book.


HEALTH AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION

LAO 2 ATTITUDES AND VALUES
Students exhibit attitudes and values that promote personal, family, and community health, and participate in physical activity.
Possible activities
Respect for other, property and space, food hygiene, personal hygiene, duties including dishes, setting and serving, and light cleaning, early morning activity, team building activities, camp community living environment.

LAO 3 SKILLS FOR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
Students demonstrate the movement skills and strategies for confident participation in physical activity.
Possible activities
Structured games programmes including cricket, basketball, volleyball, boogie boarding and surfing, outdoor education activities including prusiking(rope climbing), rock climbing, abseiling, paddling, orienteering and mapping, low ropes course and team building activities.

LAO 4 SELF MANAGEMENT SKILLS
Students demonstrate self management skills which enable them to make informed decisions for healthy, active lifestyles.
Possible activities
Camp first aid procedures, dormitory competitions, camp rules, personal hygiene, rosters and duties, problem solving activities, camp community living.

LAO 5 INTERPERSONAL SKILLS
Students demonstrate the interpersonal skills necessary for effective relationships and healthy, active lifestyles.
Possible activities
Camp community living, team building activities, team duty rosters and problem solving activities.


LOTE

LAO 4 CULTURAL UNDERSTANDINGS
Students develop sociolinguistic and sociocultural understandings and apply them in their use of the target language.
Possible activities
Combined camps involving students from different communities, local cultural tours.


MATHS

LAO 3,4 &5 WORKING MATHEMATICALLY
Students use mathematical thinking processes and skills in interpreting and dealing with mathematical and non mathematical solutions.
Possible activities
Pre-camp planning – costing, measuring, distances, fundraising, fuel economy, orienteering, problem solving activities, duty rosters, mapping, setting tables.

LAO 6,7&8 NUMBER
Students use numbers and operations and the relationship between them efficiently and flexibly.
Possible activities
Pre – camp planning – costing, fundraising, budgeting and fuel economy, shopping, orienteering, problem solving.

LAO 9,10&11 MEASUREMENT
Students use direct and indirect measurement and estimation skills to describe, compare, evaluate, plan and construct.
Possible activities
Measuring distances, orienteering, mapping, and problem solving activities.

LAO 15&16 SPACE
Students describe and analyse mathematically the special features of objects, environments and movements.
Possible activities
Living in dormitories-confined space, problem solving activities, packing luggage, orienteering and mapping, sketching, painting, sculpture to scale.


SCIENCE

LAO 1,2,3,4&5 WORKING SCIENTIFICALLY
Students investigate to answer questions about the natural and technological world using reflection and analysis to prepare a plan; to collect, process and interpret data; to communicate conclusions; and to evaluate their plan, procedures and findings. Students understand, make decisions, apply and evaluate their scientific knowledge as a part of their everyday life.
Possible activities
Beach activities – recording information and observing change, problem solving-leverage, rope work- friction.

LAO 6 EARTH AND BEYOND
Students understand how the physical environment on Earth and its position in the universe impact on the way we live.

Astro tours.

LAO 8 LIFE AND LIVING
Students understand their own biology and that of other living things, and recognise the interdependence of life.
Possible activities
Farming and fishing industries, marine activities, bush tucker walks, Aboriginal cultural tours, CALM tours.


SOCIETY AND ENVIRONMENT

LAO 1 INVESTIGATION, COMMUNICATION AND PARTICIPATION
Students investigate the ways in which people interact with each other and with their environments in order to make informed decisions and implement relevant social action.
Possible activities
Investigation costs, budgets and activities associated with the camp, reporting on tours and activities, rules and duties, communal living in camp, problem solving activities, team building activities, beach education programs, life skills programs.

LAO 2 PLACE AND SPACE
Students understand that the interaction people have with places in which they live is shaped by the location, patterns and processes associated with natural and built features.
Possible activities
Fishing industry research, pearling industry research, Broome Historical Museum visits, cultural tours, Broome bike tours, and hovercraft tour.

LAO 3 RESOURCES
Students understand that people attempt to meet their needs and wants by making optimum use of limited resources in enterprising ways.
Possible activities
Recycling activities, pearling industry tour.
